Jim Blackwood, a Director of the Firm concentrates his practice in General Business Law for business clients including formation, sale and acquisition, ownership, succession planning. Jim has been practicing in private practice for approximately 30 years. Prior to joining Tuggle Duggins Jim was General Partner of Coggin, Blackwood & Brannan in Greensboro, North Carolina for 25 years.
Jim received a Bachelor of Science with High Honors from N.C. State University and his Juris Doctorate with High Honors from University of North Carolina where he also received the Order of the Coif, Chief Justice Walter Clark Award and was a member of the North Carolina Law Review for 1973 and 1974. Upon graduation from University of North Carolina Jim served as a Lieutenant on active duty with United States Navy JAG Corp until 1977.
