Bill Burgin, a Director of the Firm, is a member of the Business & Tax and Real Estate practice groups.  Bill concentrates his practice in the representation of business clients in commercial real estate, commercial and real estate lending, and leasing matters.  Since 1996 he has been a Board Certified Specialist in Real Property Law, which requires expertise in residential, business, commercial, and industrial transactions.  Bill regularly advises clients on all aspects of buying and selling, Section 1031 exchanges, personal property financing, and development issues.  He has represented both banks and borrowers on complex loan transactions, often involving locations in several states.  Bill also drafts and reviews commercial leases for clients from both the landlord and tenant perspectives.

In addition to advising clients, Bill has delivered several seminars on various facets of real estate law, including “Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina,” and “Mastering Real Estate Titles & Title Insurance in North Carolina.”

Bill received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1988.  He also received an M.A. in 1977, and a Ph.D. in 1981, from Duke University.  He received his undergraduate degree, with special distinction, from the University of Mississippi in 1974.
