Bob Cone, a director and shareholder in the firm, handles all areas of business and commercial litigation, including disputes between banks and their customers, construction disputes, products liability cases, contract cases, claims of unfair or deceptive trade practices, and landlord-tenant disputes. Bob has won a number of jury verdicts in federal and state courts, handled complex litigation as lead counsel in the North Carolina Business Court, and argued cases on appeal in the North Carolina Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. His litigation practice includes alternative dispute resolution procedures. He is certified as a mediator for the United States Postal Service and in the North Carolina federal and state court systems. Recognized by his peers for his trial practice, Bob is a member of the Guilford Inn of Court where he is a Master of the Bench and serves as treasurer.
Bob is a past president of the Greensboro Bar Association and a member of the National Conference of Bar Presidents. He is a past member of the Advisory Board of the Conflict Resolution Program at UNCG and a former member of the Dispute Resolution Council of the North Carolina Bar Association. He represents Guilford County as a member of the governing board of the North Carolina State Bar.
Bob is a director and past chairman of Cone Health Foundation and a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Greensboro. He is a past chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Greensboro Public Library and a past vice-chairman of the Greensboro Urban Ministry. Bob received the 2011 Centennial Award, conferred jointly by the Greensboro and North Carolina Bar Associations, in recognition of his extraordinary community service.
Bob holds undergraduate (1974) and law (1978) degrees from UNC-CH, where he was a Morehead-Cain Scholar. |
