Pete Evenson, a Director of the Firm, concentrates his practice in the areas of international procurement, government contracts, construction claims and litigation, and nonprofit foundations. Pete has significant experience in international and domestic construction, including work as a senior officer of a large international construction company with projects in the Middle East, Caribbean, and Africa. His experience includes construction project finance, joint ventures, and corporate structuring and tax planning for foreign subsidiaries. He has broad experience with international projects financed through development banks, foreign (host) governments and agencies of the United States government.
In addition to advising clients, Pete has lectured at the International Law Institute on procurement issues since 1982 (both in the U.S. and abroad) and has advised foreign governments on procurement matters and policy. Through his work with the Associated General Contractors, he has addressed both the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee on tax issues affecting U.S. citizens working overseas.
Pete received his law degree from Wake Forest University in 1977 and his undergraduate degree in accounting from The College of William and Mary in 1972. He is a licensed certified public accountant (Virginia and North Carolina), a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Bar Association, the American Bar Association (Construction Industry Forum and Committee on International Law and Practice), serves as General Counsel to the First Flight Foundation, and is President-Elect of the Law Alumni Council of Wake Forest Law School. Pete also serves on the International Law and Practice Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Association.
