David Meschan, Of Counsel with the Firm, concentrates his practice in Chapter 11 reorganization, out-of-court workouts, and bankruptcy litigation. He represents debtors, creditors, and creditors’ committees in business reorganizations, and litigants in all types of bankruptcy-related litigation. Matters he has litigated include lien avoidance, fraudulent transfer, conversion, preference, reclamation, equitable subordination, plan confirmation issues, discharge denial, guaranty defenses, insider conduct, single-asset issues and involuntary issues. As a bankruptcy specialist, he has been selected by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in America for sixteen consecutive years.
David has been a frequent lecturer at regional continuing legal education seminars, presenting manuscripts on a number of bankruptcy-related topics, including “Buyer’s and Seller’s Remedies under Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code,” “Property of the Bankruptcy Estate,” “Executory Contracts in Bankruptcy,” “The Bankruptcy Tax Act,” and “Chapter 11 Tax Issues.”
David is active in the community and is a past member of the boards of directors of the Eastern Music Festival, Community Theater of Greensboro, B’nai Shalom Synagogue, and Guilford Day School. He was the First Chairman of the Carolina Theater Commission. He has been active in committee work at Greensboro Day School. He is a current member of the board of trustees of Greensboro Jewish Federation, and was the Chairman of the 1990 Men’s Campaign.
David received his law degree from the University of North Carolina in 1969 and his undergraduate degree from Davidson College in 1966. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina.
