Vaughn Ramsey, a Director of the Firm, is a member of the Business & Tax practice group. Vaughn has over twenty years experience in general business representation, with a focus on taxation. He advises clients on a broad spectrum of business transactions, including taxable and non-taxable business sales and acquisitions, entity formation, private placements, joint ventures, general contract matters, and related transactions. Vaughn also advises clients in taxpayer disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and the North Carolina Department of Revenue.
In addition to advising clients, Vaughn regularly lectures on multi-state sales tax issues and federal income tax topics. He is a member of the board of the J. Nelson Young UNC Tax Institute. Vaughn was included in the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his expertise in tax law and was recently named to the 2007 List of North Carolina SuperLawyers.
Vaughn received his LL.M. in taxation from New York University in 1985 and his law degree, cum laude, from the University of North Carolina in 1982 where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the North Carolina Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978. Prior to joining Tuggle Duggins in 1985, Vaughn was an associate with Chadbourne & Parke in New York City.
