Sarah Sparrow, a Director of the Firm, is a Board Certified Specialist in Business and Consumer Bankruptcy Law, and co-Chair of the Firm’s Bankruptcy practice group.  Sarah has extensive experience in all areas of bankruptcy and debtor-creditor relations and has built a national bankruptcy practice.  She primarily concentrates on Chapter 11 business reorganizations, and has experience representing debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, creditors committees, and Chapter 7 panel trustees.  She is admitted to practice in the federal courts of all three North Carolina districts, as well as the Northern District of Texas.  She is also admitted to practice before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and state courts of North Carolina. 

In addition to counseling clients, Sarah has written numerous manuscripts on debtor-creditor issues and bankruptcy law, including manuscripts prepared for the Russian Ministry of Food and Agriculture.  Sarah has also lectured on bankruptcy law at legal education seminars in North Carolina and in Moscow. 

Sarah is a member of the Greensboro Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association and its Bankruptcy Section, the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), the Construction Professionals Network of North Carolina (CPN NC), and the Turnaround Management Association. 

Sarah received her law degree from the University of North Carolina in 1985.  Following law school, she served as a law clerk to United States Bankruptcy Judges Rufus W. Reynolds and Jerry G. Tart in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Middle District North Carolina. She received a M.S. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1973 and an undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1967.
