Wayne Tumlin, a Director of the Firm, concentrates his practice in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and state and federal securities laws. Wayne has been lead counsel for his clients in transactions involving the acquisition and divestiture of businesses, as well as the issuance and sale of securities. He acts as general counsel to closely-held businesses, counseling them on general business and corporate governance matters, and has advised his clients on numerous technical and specialized matters. Wayne has extensive experience representing individuals and corporations regarding compliance with state and federal securities laws, including investment advisors, broker-dealers, and issuers of securities through public offerings and private placements.
Wayne was recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2010© in the fields of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and private equity, and securities law. Additionally, Wayne has been named by Chambers USA© as one of America’s leading lawyers for business, and was also selected by his peers to be listed in Super Lawyers© in the areas of Business/Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions, Securities & Corporate Finance. Wayne received his LL.M. in securities and financial regulation from Georgetown University School of Law in 1996 and his law degree, cum laude, from New York Law School in 1992. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981.
Prior to joining Tuggle Duggins, Wayne was a partner with Bernstein Shur, located in Portland, Maine. He is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Connecticut and Maine. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar Association, Maine State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association, Greensboro Bar Association, and American Bar Association.
